I can’t look at myself long enough to do a painting without getting bored. I like to think of any painting as an experiment on some level, and self portraits are as good a time to try something out as any. For this one, I looked at my reflection diffused in the lid of a to go container I’d brought some food home in.
This other is a little less experimental, except that I had plenty of time to set up two mirrors, play around with color, and let the paint get nice and thick. I’m never really sure what I look like, it’s impossible to see anyone, especially myself, completely objectively.
