Interior of the warehouse I lived in. This building has been torn down now, probably to make room for townhouses or a parking deck. At various times, it housed studios for artists Heide Trepanier, Jack Lawerence, myself, and others. Downstairs, I had a shop space for bikes and cars that I shared with Matt Crawford, who later wrote about the experience of trying to fix motorcycles in his best seller Shop Class as Soulcraft. At the other end of the building, my friend Garnett worked on old Harleys and cleaned up after his pet duck, BD, and a guy named Rich made molds for everything from ornate porch column capitals to chocolate, as well as working on the world’s most tedious restoration of an Olds Toranado ever.
